Hear several Fathers on the same struggle to pray.
Prayer and Watchfulness gathers patristic counsel selected by Saint Theophan the Recluse around attention, repentance, and guarding the heart. Basil, Chrysostom, Ephrem, Climacus, Isaac, and other Fathers bring different voices to the effort to remain attentive before God. The thematic collection gives readers a way to compare counsel on wandering thoughts and inner prayer without beginning the full five-volume Russian Philokalia.
