The New Theotokarion gathers sixty-two canons from the Greek collection compiled by Saint Nicodemus the Hagiorite. Supplication, thanksgiving, repentance, and praise unfold through the imagery of Orthodox hymnography, keeping the Mother of God’s place in the Incarnation before the reader. This English reading translation offers a sustained way to encounter texts whose concerns include weakness, fear, temptation, gratitude, and the longing for mercy.
