Enter the ancient monastic world one story at a time.
Saint John Moschus gathers 219 accounts from the monasteries and communities of Palestine, Egypt, Sinai, and the eastern Mediterranean. The Spiritual Meadow moves between quiet hospitality, human failure, repentance, danger, and accounts of the miraculous. Its brief narratives bring Orthodox monastic life into focus through people and situations, making it an engaging choice for readers drawn to the Desert Fathers but more at home with stories than extended argument.
